The Australian, brought in swiftly after the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo, oversaw a tough 3-0 away Premier League defeat to Arsenal in his first match in charge, followed by a 3-2 Carabao Cup collapse at Swansea and then a 1-1 draw at Burnley before the midweek Europa League trip to Real Betis.
