Football is the main focus over the next week, and with that in mind, our betting review from the weekend focuses on three big winning football bets.

Please remember Spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.

TNS v BRITON FERRY – TNS/BF SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT -3)

Park Hall, the home of Cymru Premier League side TNS, might not be one of the footballing cathedrals in the UK, but it produced a biblical shock on Saturday as Briton Ferry recorded a 3-0 win at the home of the 2024/25 treble winners.

There were 46 points separating the two sides in last year’s league table and TNS were 1/12 to get an opening day win, but The Ferry had different ideas as a Ruben Davies brace bookended a superb diving header from Thomas Walters.

Before kick-off in Oswestry, the Supremacy spread was 2.6-2.9 in TNS’ favour. However, with Briton Ferry running out 3-0 winners, the spread settled at -3, which left sellers winning 5.6x their stake – an impressive return for a low volatility spread betting market.

STOKE CITY v DERBY COUNTY – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 310)

Late goals were the order of the day in the Potteries as Stoke City came from behind to beat Derby County on the opening weekend of the Championship season.

Carlton Morris had opened the scoring for Derby on the hour mark, but his acrobatic volley was cancelled out ten minutes later by a Lewis Baker strike from the edge of the box. With a draw very much on the cards, there was time for two debutants to power the Potters to three points.

First, Divin Mubama headed home a Tatsuki Seko cross, before former Huddersfield Town man Sorba Thomas made it three one in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

With so many late goals, buyers on our Total Goal Minutes football spread betting market at 101-111 were rubbing their hands. The eventual makeup was 310, as buyers pocketed a win of 199x their stake.

CRYSTAL PALACE v LIVERPOOL – CROSS-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 0)

Crystal Palace secured the first English domestic trophy of the season as they beat Liverpool on penalties to lift the Community Shield.

An entertaining game at Wembley saw Palace fall behind twice before Ismaila Sarr levelled the match at 2-2 in the 77th minute. Northern Ireland youngster Justin Devenny was brought on specifically to take a penalty in the shoot-out, and the 21-year-old held his nerve superbly to lash home the winning spot-kick.

There were quite a few big winning bets on the match, but a sell on Cross-Bookings at 245-295 was a rewarding punt. This sees the teams’ respective booking points total multiplied, but with Palace not receiving a card, the spread settled at zero as sellers won 245x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
